Fine Madness (not A Fine Madness!) was founded in 1982 by Seattle poet and sheetrock-layer par excellence Louis Bergsagel.

In 1984, four other editors, all poets themselves, were brought on to help with the effort and financing of the magazine, which publishes almost exclusively poetry (and an occasional prose piece) from the Pacific Northwest, the U.S. in general, and other countries. We publish both well known and lesser known writers, with no bias as to form or subject.

The editors are:
Sean Bentley, John Malek, Anne Pitkin, Judith Skillman (pictured at the Bumbershoot Bookfair, Seattle). Editorial assistance for Issue 30 provided by Sherry Rind and David Edelman.

Louis Bergsagel retired from the magazine in 1995. Christine Deavel, Kathryn Macdonald, John Marshall, and the late James Snydal are editors emeritus.

FM has previously been the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts grant. We are a not-for-profit organization and the magazine is entirely funded by donations and by its (unpaid) staff. Neither our site nor our magazine have advertising, which means more poetry! Your contributions are gleefully accepted and are tax-free—and they can be matched by organizations that support nonprofits. Here's more information!
List price $7.00/issue (postpaid) in North America and $8.00 (postpaid) elsewhere (U.S. dollars)
